Le premier homme à avoir gravi le Mont Aiguille

The first man to climb Mont Aiguille

By Paul-Arthur Raynaud

The ascent of Mont Aiguille is a key moment in the history of mountaineering. On June 26, 1492, Antoine de Ville and his team climbed this summit, then considered inaccessible, on the orders of King Charles VIII. This expedition, using military assault techniques, marks the birth of mountaineering as we know it today.
